I'm Marina Henke, an audio producer and reporter based in Portland, Maine. I recently graduated from the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies and received my B.A. from Bowdoin College. A native to the Midwest, I have an unwavering loyalty to St. Louis and the surrounding Rust Belt.
Prior to Salt, I was involved in several long-term oral history projects, including a two year initiative documenting the story of the River des Peres, a long polluted stream in St. Louis, Missouri. Most recently I've worked at Gimlet Media as a producer, while handling a variety of freelance production projects.
In my past life, I was a middle-school teacher (who taught podcasting!) and an outdoor educator. In my audio work, I bring a deep curiosity about how people understand place and their sense of belonging to it.
